How to properly set & achieve goals?

Lot’s of us often talk about goals, what we want to buy or where we want to go. We call it goals, dreams, desires or even plans. But the absurdity of all is that in real life almost 95% of all words remain words and in current times of crisis we can’t even plan anything. Do you recall your 2020 New Year’s resolution? Did you achieve what you desired or are you at least on the correct path?

Everyone is somehow used to swiping those back in time important goals under the rough and explaining why something did not work out. Failure to achieve goals has become normal. You can declare your will, but you can not achieve it. If you are not going to keep the promise you give for yourself, then probably it is better to not promise at all? Better to be silent and rather enjoy your life without any extra stress. Or, set the goals that you can achieve and be fulfilled when they are accomplished.

Here are the TOP-10 typical goals:

  • Start going to the gym
  • Learn English / Spanish / French
  • Lose weight
  • Return to shape
  • Make repairs around your house
  • Open your business
  • Develop your blog
  • Take a trip
  • Drink more water
  • Start saving money

Does this look familiar? I might surprise you, that those phrases are not goals at all. They are fakes to make a visibility or an excuse. They will not bring any progress to you. You will be upset and will no longer believe in your power. Year after year you will have a frustrated feeling “I can do more”. Find the reasons why your goals can not be achieved, blame on lack of self-discipline and punish yourself even more mentally.

Consider the main errors, why your goals have a risk to not materialize:

Incorrect wording

It is good to want to lose weight, travel more, do what you love, however that is all an abstraction. You can lose weight as 1 kg, or by 10, you can go on a journey around the region at least every weekend. And you may do what you love from morning to night, however don’t earn a penny.

“Start going to the gym” is NOT a purpose. But throughout the week to see five fitness studious near your house, choose the right one, visit a trial training – it’s closer to actual aim setting.

Not self-reflected

To build a temple of recent desires without filling the muse is an idea. Everything will fall and fall inside the first breeze. Without a clear understanding of what stage you’re at, the way you lived last 12 months, what you achieved, and where you broke the firewood, you won’t cross far. Summing up, you may see the dynamics of achievements, notice which regions are excellently pumped and which might be sagging. Current lifestyle is not taken into account

In euphoria, often we have a temptation to set terrific goals (i.e. loose 10 kgs in 1 month) or to set too many of the goals. But in fact, you simply have a limited time, resources or you are just a lazy person to constantly work on yourself. So it is better to set 1 goal and achieve it, than 10 and completely fail. Remember, that the worst can happen – is your feeling of dissatisfaction with yourself.

So, let’s repair the goal setting!

The proper goals are constantly extraordinarily specific, restricted in time, measurable in any quantities, considerable for you personally, awakening pleasure and practicable in your existing circumstances.

Examples of a correct goal setting: by July 1 I want to write 10 chapters of my e-book, set up 5 unusual dates and travel to the seaside with my dog.
